BASIC TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE

Have you wondered why an acupuncturist studies your tongue, pulse, and diet?

Starting February 5, 2006 a 16 week introductory class will be taught as an informational seminar designed to introduce the public to the basic theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Students will become familiar with theories of Yin and Yang, Qi, and Differential Diagnosis.

Included in this introductory course are basic theories of the following:

Yin and Yang
Tongue Diagnosis
Five Element Theory
Eye and Ear Diagnosis
Eight Principle Theory of Diagnosis
Symptoms of Qi and Blood Disharmony

Required Reading for Basic Chinese Medicine Theory class:

  • "Healing With Whole Foods" by Paul Pitchford
  • "The Web That Has No Weaver" by Ted Kaptchuk
  • "Basic Theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine" -Volume 1
    by publishing House of Shanghai College of Traditional Chinese Medicine
